Why did Mary not go to Crimea with Nightingale?
Mary Seacole in the Crimea: Like Florence Nightingale, she wanted to help out in the Crimean War. The British Government would not take her on as a hospital nurse there – some say they rejected her because of her colour. She also made several visits to the Crimean battlefields to help and nurse the soldiers there.
