“Political maps” are among the most widely used reference maps. They are mounted on the walls of classrooms throughout the world. They show the geographic boundaries between governmental units such as countries, states, and counties. They show roads, cities and major water features such as oceans, rivers and lakes.

Where does north arrow go on map?
By convention north is towards the top of the page (thus some maps do not have north arrows), but the orientation must still be given for a ‘proper’ map. North does not have to be at the top of the page and a north arrow is essential in maps where it is not.

The US City Boundaries are part of Maptive’s boundary tool, and provides the outline of approximately 30,000 cities and towns in the United States of America. With this tool you can display the borders of the cities or you can color them in based on your spreadsheet data.

If you chose to load your own spreadsheet data you can link it to the cities by selecting either “My Group Data” or “My Numerical Data” in the “Boundary Fill Type” drop down menu.
