What is HPMC E5?
Product Overview. METHOCEL™ E5 Premium LV is a water-soluble HPMC polymer with moderate hydroxypropyl substitution and high methoxy content. This premium grade can be used in industrial applications that require pharmaceutical grade material.
What is Methocel used for?
METHOCEL™ 228 is a modified HPMC that is used as a thickener in tape joint compounds, crack fillers, and other flexible construction materials. METHOCEL™ 240 is a high molecular weight hydroxypropyl methylcellulose polymer that is used as a thickener in water based coatings, inks & adhesives.
What are the different grades of HPMC?
When used as release-controlling coating agents for tableted core-based pulsatile delivery systems, three different hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) grades, Methocel E5, E50, and K4M, provided lag phases of varying duration (Methocel K4M > E50 > E5) and a prompt and quantitative model drug release.
What is HPMC E15?
METHOCEL™ E15 Premium LV is a low molecular weight hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) thickener. It yields a viscosity of ~15 cP at 2% in water.
What is Methocel K4M?
METHOCEL™ K4M is an HPMC thickener with moderate hydroxypropyl substitution. It is used as a thickener for coatings and adhesives and as a binder to improve green strength in ceramics. METHOCEL™ K4M is often used as a thickener in latex paints to control the viscosity and rheology of the formulation.
What is K in HPMC K4M?
K means gelling temperature is between 70-90℃. The viscosity is 4000cps.
How do you take Celevac tablets?
As an aid to appetite control and the treatment of obesity: 3 tablets with at least 300 ml of warm liquid, half an hour before each meal and between meals when hunger pangs are severe. It is recommended that the tablets should be broken in the mouth before swallowing.
METHOCEL™ E4M Premium is a premium quality, water-soluble cellulose ether polymer. It is based on non-ionic Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) and provides viscosity of 4,000 cP at low addition levels.
Is HPMC soluble in water?

Hypromellose/Soluble in
Is HPMC soluble in ethanol?
HPMC could be soluble in water and in mixtures of ethanol and dichloromethane in ratios of 50:50, 40:60 and 30:70 (Figure 1A).
Is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose water soluble?
How do you take Methocel F50?
The Methocel F50 is combined with a flavored liquid and then whipped in a standing mixer with a whisk attachment until it forms soft or firm peaks. Xanthan gum can also be used to further stabilize the foam. Once whipped, the Methocel F50 foam can be served as is or dehydrated to create meringues.
Which is better methyl cellulose or HPMC ether?
With the same addition amount, the water-retention rate of HPMC is higher than that of Methyl Cellulose. 5. Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose has better enzyme resistance than Methyl Cellulose, and the possibility of enzymatic degradation of Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose is less than that of MC.
What kind of cellulose does Methocel stand for?
METHOCEL is a trademark of The Dow Chemical Company for a line of cellulose ether products. An initial letter identifies the type of cellulose ether. “A” identifies methylcellulose products. “E”, “F”, and “K” identify different hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (USP Hypromellose) products.
What does p stand for in Methocel premium grade?
“P” is sometimes used to identify METHOCEL Premium grade products; Premium grade products are compliant with the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), European Pharmacopeia (PhEur), and the Japanese Pharmacopeia (JP). “LV” refers to special Low Viscosity products, “CR” denotes a Premium, Controlled Release grade.
How is Methocel produced in a nonaqueous system?
Generally, formulating METHOCEL products into a waterless (nonaqueous) system follows the same steps as for dissolution in water except for reversing the temperatures of the starting and finishing steps. The first step is dispersion of the polymer powder into the polar organic liquid.
