I’ve based this list on public and critical opinion, so let’s get this walk through the literary hell underway.
- 10 Worst Books Ever Written.

- Mein Kampf (Adolf Hitler)

What is a bad book?
Perhaps it can be described as a book that doesn’t know what it wants to be. The writer doesn’t trust the reader. One character in a book that does this might not make for a bad book, but more than one character or the main character makes for a bad book.
Why are bad books popular?
Yes, a poor teacher can influence how students feel about a book, but the reason they gravitate to junk isn’t that they haven’t been exposed to masterpieces. While some readers (especially young ones) may enjoy bad books because they haven’t read enough to build discernment, that’s rarely the case after a certain age.
How many printed pages is 80 000 words?
320 pages
320 pages = 80,000 words.
What makes a bad story?
A bad story is one that’s under-prepared or not rehearsed. Stands to reason. If you saw a play and the actors didn’t know their lines or where to move, you’d leave, wouldn’t you? A bad story also doesn’t anchor the content to a particular place.

What makes a book terrible?
Bad Writing Quality #1 – Flawed Writing on a Sentence Level I also mean grammar or punctuation that’s bad enough to cause the reader comprehension trouble. Flawed writing on a sentence level ruins a book because it makes the book difficult for most people to read. You’re not able to lose sight of the words on the page.
How long is a book?
Most publishers consider novel length as between 50,000 and 110,000 words. The average length is about 90,000 words.
Why is writing boring?
Boring, dry (usually formulaic) writing arises when the writer uses too many vague, general words and doesn’t vary her sentences. Vague words in general (see what I did there?) don’t engage the reader, and unvaried sentences causes the writing to become predictable. And predictable writing is, well, boring.
How can books be bad?
These readers’ perception may be altered, and books that would otherwise provide comfort may exacerbate their feelings of sadness, anger, or hopelessness. Adverse reactions to reading matter — fear, obsession, guilt — may be amplified, and readers may become more susceptible to emulating negative behaviors.
