How does a pull start recoil work?
In the center of the pulley, a recoil spring connects to the pulley through a hook. When the starter rope gets pulled off the pulley and out of the engine, the recoil spring stretches out. This allows the operator to continuously pull the rope to get the engine moving faster and faster toward combustion.
Why does my leaf blower keep shutting off?
If the engine on your blower runs then dies, you might need to check the tank vent, ignition coil, or gas cap. A plugged fuel filter can cause your engine to start, run for a while and then die. The fuel filter on your leaf blower connects to the fuel line, and filters out any debris that may be in the fuel tank.
Why does my leaf blower dies when I give it gas?
If the air filter in your leaf blower is partially plugged, it can cause your engine to run, but die at full throttle. If the fuel filter is partially clogged, the engine still may have enough fuel reaching it to start up, and to idle for a while.
Where is the pawl on an echo blower?
The pawl is the short bar that catches in the notches of the starter wheel. Pick up the old pull-start cord and locate the cap. Pry the cap off by hand or use a flathead screwdriver to expose the knot in the cord holding it to the handle.
How to replace the starter pawl return spring on an echo?
Remove the starter pawl return spring. Place the starter pulley on a flat work surface with the starter pawls facing down. Use a small screwdriver to pry the retaining clip from the back of the starter pawl. Reposition the starter pulley so that the starter pawls are facing up. Remove the starter pawl from the pulley.
How do you replace starter cord on Echo blower?
Pull the cord through the handle, then replace the cap on the handle. Insert the free end of the replacement cord through the starter cover, then into rotor on the recoil pulley.
What does a pull start Echo leaf blower do?
Like most small, two-stroke engines, Echo leaf blowers use a pull start. This is a cord wrapped around a recoiling pulley mechanism, which automatically retracts the cord after the operator pull-starts the engine. If you have an Echo leaf blower with a broken starter rope, you’ll have to replace the cord to get the blower going again.
